The 2016 Anne silk Lecture – Inside the voice: Using neuroimaging to understand the sounds of the self
April 13, 2016 @ 6:00 pm - 9:00 pm
The RSM’s annual Anne Silk Lecture – which focuses on progress in neuroscience – is back, this year delving into the science behind the voice. The voice is a dynamic expression of the self: an action first and foremost, it carries moment-to-moment information on the content on our thoughts, our moods and intentions, as well as more stable cues to sex, age and accent. But what happens when a voice is “lost”, for example through brain injury? It is not just lost in terms of the impairments to linguistic communication, but also to the patient’s sense of self identity.
When: Wednesday 13 April 2016
Where: Royal Society of Medicine 1 Wimpole Street London W1G 0AE
