Equivalent to Agenda for Change band 6 or 7 dependent on experience
29th February 2016
To be confirmed
JS Parker Ltd was established in 1994 and is a successful rehabilitation and case management consultancy working in close co-operation with the legal profession. From our offices in Manchester, Sheffield, Stocksfield and Edinburgh we currently provide services to more than 400 adults and children with brain and spinal injuries, other catastrophic injuries and complex disabilities. We are proud to be one of the leading providers in this specialist field of health and social care.
We are looking for a highly motivated occupational therapist with experience of carrying out therapy programmes for brain injured clients, preferably in community settings, to join our dynamic team in the North East. You should have a professional occupational therapy qualification with a minimum of 5 years post qualification experience, 3 of which should be in neuro-rehabilitation including traumatic brain injury.
You will work with clients and their families to assess their needs and make recommendations for their occupational therapy requirements. You will design and deliver bespoke, client centered and goal focused intervention programmes. No two therapy programmes are the same; there are fantastic opportunities to work outside of the traditional remit of occupational therapy in order to meet clients’ needs. We are looking for someone who takes pride in their work and is passionate about providing a high quality service. You must be organised, with an eye for detail, to achieve the standard of service delivery required.
The role involves time recording; keeping accurate, clear clinical records; and providing written reports as part of the medico-legal process. You will attend interdisciplinary therapy meetings and conferences with barristers, solicitors and medical experts where you will need to explain your role and justify interventions clearly and confidently. Therapy programmes are supported by relevant outcome measures to evidence progress. Whilst your caseload will primarily consist of adults and adolescents with an acquired brain injury, you may also work with clients with other neurological conditions and/or complex disabilities.
You will need to have an interest or knowledge of the medico-legal sector and be able to clearly explain and present your assessment findings and recommendations to others, taking into consideration cost containment. You will also be expected to take an active role networking to market and develop the service. Flexibility around the demands of the business is also vital.
You will receive regular support and monthly supervision from a senior occupational therapist in addition to an annual appraisal. We offer a thorough induction programme as well as an in-house training programme and generous opportunities for external training.
This is an exciting opportunity to join our successful team and to contribute to an organisation well respected in its field.
